My job is safe, but so many incredibly talented people were let go - including some of my close friends. What the hell is wrong with this industry

Viral score

Based on absolute engagement — the platform doesn’t expose follower counts here, so large accounts score higher.

From likes, comments.

Why it worked

Ends on a short line that is easy to quote and repeat.
Written from experience rather than as advice, which is harder to argue with.
Short enough to read in full without expanding, which removes a step before the point lands.

The mechanics

Hook: Plain observation
Structure: Hook → Landing
Style: Conversational paragraphs at a steady pace.
Tone: personal, blunt
Written for: Hiring managers and founders

guess who got laid off today! 🫠 i am genuinely so confused and bewildered like, i spent the past week debugging the rivalry system while recovering from pneumonia and just in the past few days i’ve had multiple directors tell me how much they appreciate everything i do

Kamala Harris has and will interview with: -Howard Stern -Rickey Smiley -Call Her Daddy -Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson (All The Smoke) -Oprah -60 Minutes -The View -Stephen Colbert -Dana Bash/CNN -Stephanie Ruhle/MSNBC -Univision But I’m told she isn’t doing media. 🙄

Reviving this account to say: Almost everyone at Vimeo was laid off yesterday, including the entire video team. If you're looking for talented engineers, there are a few on the market. Sucks to see something I built killed by private equity in a technology company skin suit.

We won. Starmer abandons plans for compulsory Digital ID. This is a HUGE win. Well done to EVERYONE who has been fighting - from all political parties and none. A team effort. It proves that we can make progress when we come together to fight this appalling Labour Government.
